Outreach ministry

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Matthew” 28:19

“… and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

Outreach mission is a core to the very being of the Church of Christ. The church is the only   institution on the earth that has the calling to undertake the great mission of bringing new lives into the house of the Lord Jesus Christ. The bible teaches us that proclaiming the words of God is not optional but it’s what Jesus wants us to do until His second coming. Our church clearly understands this mission and has set an outreach plan that includes reaching out to those who have not yet heard the Good news of Jesus Christ as well as those who are distancing themselves from the Gospel based on the message that: they can’t believe if they haven’t heard, and they won’t hear unless they were told.

Following are our church’s outreach plans:

Oromia

  • Mainly unreached parts of Oromia (North, East and South East Oromia) and supporting Christian Oromo Students Fellowship (FOCUS) at various universities and colleges

  • Support existing ministries (media-based, crusades, church plantation etc) operating in Oromia and other parts of Ethiopia

  • More 80% of Oromo Christians in Oromia don’t have their own bibles due to the scarcity of the Afan Oromoo bibles. Work with bible printing and distributing Christian institutions to send bibles to Oromia in coordination with local churches that partner with our church

East African and Arab countries

  • Support church plantation activities in Borena areas of Northern Kenya

  • Continue our support to the Oromo church in Nairobi, Kenya

  • Utilize modern media technologies to spread the words of Jesus Christ to the Oromo community and refugees  in the middle east with emphasis to Arab countries

  • Coordinate efforts with partner churches

  • Establish connections with Oromo Churches, fellowships and individuals in these countries and find out better ways of supporting their efforts to organize Christian fellowships

Other Oromo churches in Diaspora

  • Assist Oromo churches and their leaders especially those directly or indirectly affected by the 2009 decision of the ELCA

  • Establish communications and Fellowships with Oromo congregations especially with newly formed ones

  • Send ministers to other Oromo churches as need be

  • Provide other assistances up on request

The Twin Cities area

Oromo community

Large Oromo immigrant population live in the Twin Cities Area: “The harvest is plentiful…”      Matt 9:37; and that gives huge opportunity of evangelism right at our door steps using the following means:

  • Radio and TV Ministry: with a clear targeted mission

  • Person to person witness and distribution of tracts: by trained and gifted members who have the calling for this mission and ready to volunteer

Others

We believe that we live in this particular place with God’s plan, not by accident. God wants to use      us    to bring the Good news of Jesus Christ to non-Oromo populations in our neighborhood/the   twin cities area.  We plan to use the following strategies to discharge this duty:

  • Focused prayers and intercession

  • Inviting other people to attend our church services

  • Using available opportunities to serve in other churches (choir ministry, preaching,

                Prayers etc)

  • Other means as directed by the Holy Spirit
